City Walks

Provence.Cruises invites you to wonderful city walks in Marseille. You will fall in love……

Petite balade dans le Panier

Just a few steps away from the Old Port, there are houses bathed in soft pastels, narrow climbs, small staircases and cosy places. Here, in the oldest district of Marseille, antiquity and modernism unites to a spectacular ensemble.  The name of the vibrant quarter comes from an auberge called “Le Logis du Panier”, which regaled here in the 17th century its guest.

Discover the historic Marseille during your walking tour. Monuments and sights, string together to restaurants, cafés, speciality shops or small art galleries. A special atmosphere of Mediterranean sereneness, villagey kindness  and unconventional lifestyle. Our visit not only leads us to the  townhall steeped in history and the Cathedral Sainte-Marie-Majeure, but also to the oldest house of Marseille and the ancient Palace of Justice .

Before we get lost in the narrow alleys, we are going to visit the patio, the galeries and the little chapel of the  “Vieille Charité”. Today’s  museum and cultural centre was constructed between 1671 and 1749 as a sanctuary for needy people.
